Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between photovoltaics and solar thermal energy?

Photovoltaics (PV) generates electricity from sunlight, while solar thermal energy provides heat for heating and hot water. Both systems can be combined.

Yes, there are various subsidy programs for solar energy in Austria and the EU. We would be happy to assist you with the application process.

Winkler Solar produces collectors in all sizes and shapes, even for demanding roof shapes or special architectural requirements.

With a roof-mounted system, the solar collectors are mounted on the existing roof. In-roof systems integrate the collectors directly into the roof surface, replacing roof tiles or similar structures. We would be happy to advise you on the optimal solution for your building.

Depending on the size of the system, up to 80% of the annual hot water demand can be covered by solar energy.

Yes, we supply single-family homes as well as large-scale systems and heating networks.

Delivery and installation times vary depending on the project type. For standard modules, they take 2–4 weeks, and for customized solutions, approximately 4–6 weeks.

Under optimal conditions, the thermal system delivers up to 900W/m², with an annual average output of approximately 535W/m². PV systems deliver a maximum of 240W/m²², wobei der Jahresdurchschnitt 150-200 W/m² beträgt.

Our photovoltaic modules come with a 25-year warranty, while our thermal systems come with a 10-year warranty. Many of our thermal systems have been operating reliably for 40 years.

Our systems are low-maintenance and sometimes operate flawlessly for decades. However, should a fault occur, we repair our systems personally – without resorting to plumbers or electricians.
